01 / For everyone

Getting started

  • What is djstrich?
A tool for running club nights: event, floors, set times, guestlist and the door in one place, plus a public page for your crew. It is also a home for underground DJs, where mixes, releases, gigs and a booking inbox live behind one link. It is not an agency, and no money moves through it.
  • Does it only work if other people are already on the platform?
No. The event, your floors, the set times, the guestlist and the door check-in all work on your first night with nobody else on the platform — you can put any DJ into a slot by name. Booking requests and open calls need the other side to have an account, but they are not what makes the tool useful on day one.
  • Who can register?
Anyone who seriously organises events: clubs, venues, bars, collectives, festivals, labels and booking agencies. DJs register separately and go through a manual review. We don't vet every promoter account, but we expect genuine intent — abuse results in suspension.
  • I run events. How do I start?
Create your organisation, then your first event. Clubs, venues and bars get their own address filled in automatically and start with a "Mainfloor"; promoters and collectives pick a venue instead. Lay out your floors and set times, drag DJs into the slots, open the guestlist and share the door link with whoever works the door.
  • How does the DJ application work?
Create your profile at /app/dj/profile and submit it for review. Every profile is checked by hand. Typical response: 3–5 business days. If something needs adjusting, we get in touch directly.
  • How long does the review take?
Typically 3–5 business days. During the beta it can take longer. You get an email as soon as your profile has been reviewed.
  • Which languages is djstrich available in?
German and English. The English version lives at /en/. Pages and profiles are reachable in both.

Running a night

  • How do I set up a night?
Create the event with date, venue and city, then lay out your rooms and set times. Clubs, venues and bars get their own address filled in automatically; clubs can additionally flag a night as an "off-site event" and run it somewhere else. Running something you already do monthly? Import it from Resident Advisor or duplicate the last one, floors included.
  • Can I run several floors or rooms in one event?
Yes. Add as many floors as the night has — a house floor and a techno floor, a garden, a back bar — each with its own line-up and its own genres inside the same event. Floors carry through to duplicated events, recurring series and the printed running order.
  • How does the timetable stay current?
Set times live on the event, not in a chat. Move a slot and the confirmed DJ is notified automatically and can accept or decline the new time, so you are not retyping the same message to five people. Everyone on your team sees the same version.
  • How does the guestlist work?
Every night has a house list plus one bucket per confirmed DJ in the line-up. Each DJ fills their own bucket from inside their booking — name, plus-ones, free or reduced entry — so nobody edits a shared sheet. You set the cap: 10 heads per bucket by default, adjustable per bucket. Walk-ins added at the door do not count against a cap. When the list is final you lock it and no more names go on, yours included — walk-ins at the door still work.
  • How does door check-in work?
You share one link, or the QR code next to it, with whoever works the door. No account, no app, no handing out your password. They see the list, tick people off, add walk-ins and watch the head count, which refreshes about every 15 seconds. The link expires two days after the event, and you can revoke or regenerate it at any time.
  • What about DJs who are not on the platform?
You tag them into a slot by name and they get their own guestlist bucket, exactly like a platform DJ. The door list then shows guests per act instead of dumping everyone into the house allocation. Only your team can add names to those buckets, since there is no account behind them.
  • How do I run a recurring series?
Set the series up once with its rhythm and every date is created for you, floors included. Switch on "request residents automatically" and each date sends your active residents a booking request — they still accept it, nothing is booked over their head. When a residency ends, the still-pending requests for future dates are withdrawn automatically. Prefer to do it by hand? Duplicating a past event with its slots and genres still works.
  • What are residents?
Your regulars, kept on the organisation instead of in your head. They appear on your public page, you can slot them into a night without starting a request from scratch, and a recurring series can request them automatically.
  • Can my crew work on the same events?
Yes. Owners invite people by email, and the link in that email logs them in and joins them to the organisation in one click — no separate sign-up. There are two roles: members work on everything, owners additionally manage the team and can promote or demote each other. The last remaining owner cannot be demoted, so an organisation can never end up ownerless.
  • Can I get the line-up on paper or into my own calendar?
There is a printable running order with the slots grouped by floor, for the booth, the bar and the door. The events list exports as CSV and the calendar as ICS. You can also connect Google Calendar, which keeps a separate djstrich calendar of your events and their line-ups up to date.
  • What happens after the event?
The day after, we remind you to record how it went — who actually played, and optionally the numbers. That feeds your DJs' track record and your own history, and it unlocks your event analytics.
  • What does it cost to use as a promoter?
Free during the beta. Longer term several models are possible, and anything that becomes paid will be communicated well in advance.

03

Booking & line-up

  • How does a booking request work?
Pick a DJ, hit "Request booking" and fill in the form: event, date, venue, city, budget and a message. The DJ receives all of it at once and replies directly, instead of a context-free "what do you charge?" DM.
  • How do I build a line-up?
Drag DJs into their slots on the event page. That works for DJs on the platform and for anyone else, whom you simply tag by name. Move a booked DJ to a different set time or another floor and they are notified automatically and can approve the change.
  • Can I check technical requirements in advance?
Yes. Store the equipment in your booth and every DJ's rider is checked against it automatically. The booking detail view shows a traffic light — fits, fits with caveats, or a problem — instead of a surprise on the night.
  • Can I rebook a DJ?
Yes. DJs who have played for you before are rebooked in one click. The request is prefilled with the previous event details; you only change what actually changed.
  • How do I open an event for applications?
The event page has an "Open Call" section: switch applications on, optionally set a deadline and a short brief, and pick the genres you are after. Events are closed by default — nobody can apply uninvited.
  • How do I review applications?
Every application for every event lands in your applicants hub, ranked by fit: genre, city, date and profile quality. You can shortlist, ask questions in the thread, confirm or decline.
  • Are open calls public?
Yes. Live open calls are listed at /open-calls, which anyone can browse and share, and each one is linked from the Pulse feed. Applying is a different matter: that still needs an approved DJ profile that is complete enough to be listed.
  • How do I apply to an open call?
Once your profile is approved and complete enough, "Open Calls" shows the events that fit you, matched by city, genre and date. One tap, a short pitch of 50 to 500 characters, done. One application per event.
  • Can I withdraw an application?
Yes, at any time under "My applications". The promoter is notified.
  • How many applications can I send?
Up to 10 in 24 hours. That keeps the quality up and the spam out. Only approved, sufficiently complete profiles can apply at all.
  • How many booking requests can I send?
There is a daily ceiling, counted per account over a rolling 24 hours: 5 requests while your organisation is under 30 days old, 50 after that. It exists so one account cannot spam every DJ in a region.
  • Do I have to respond to every request?
There is no obligation. But DJs who do not react within 72 hours pick up an internal "unresponsive" signal that affects their ranking, and sustained silence risks the profile being paused.
  • Can my booking agency handle my requests?
Yes, once you and the agency have both confirmed the representation. You decide whether incoming bookings go to the agency, to you, or to both. Without an active representation nobody can take over your bookings.
  • Are bookings settled through the platform?
No. djstrich organises the conversation and the night around it. Contracts, fees and technical arrangements are handled directly between promoter and DJ, as with any conventional booking.

04 / For DJs

Your DJ profile

  • What do I need for a complete profile?
DJ name, profile link, city, a bio of at least 50 characters, at least one genre, a mix link (SoundCloud, Mixcloud or similar) and a press photo. That is the whole submit checklist. Rider, price structure and further press material are optional — they do not gate the application, but they improve your quality score.
  • How is my price displayed?
You control it: a range ("€500–800"), a starting price ("from €400"), on request, or agency rates. "On request" and "agency rates" show no figure at all. A figure you do publish sits on your public profile — it never appears in search results, on the city and genre pages, or in link previews.
  • Can I hide my profile?
Yes. Switch to "undercover" from your dashboard at any time — your profile drops out of search, the directory and the sitemap, but stays fully functional and reachable via your direct link. Switch back whenever you want.
  • I play under more than one name. Can I have several profiles?
Yes, up to three DJ profiles on one account, each with its own name, genres, bio and listing, switched from the top of your dashboard. They share one calendar — you cannot be in two places on the same night — and one inbox, where every request is tagged with the alias it was for. The aliases are not publicly linked to each other.
  • How does my availability work?
You block the dates you cannot make, and promoters see whether a date generally works before they send anything. Confirmed bookings block their day automatically, so you cannot be double-booked for the same night; if a booking falls through, the day frees up again.
  • Can I add gigs I booked elsewhere?
Yes. Under your gigs you add off-platform bookings with date, venue and fee. The fee is private — only you ever see it. These gigs appear in your calendar and in "next gigs", and they block the day by default; uncheck that if you want to stay open for something else.
  • Can I import my releases and my RA data?
Yes. Enter your Resident Advisor profile and your gig history, follower count and upcoming dates pull in straight away. Your discography comes from Discogs, Bandcamp and Beatport at the press of a button. All server-side, nothing retyped.
  • Can I get my gigs into Google Calendar?
Yes. Connect Google once and djstrich creates a calendar of its own for your confirmed bookings, your self-entered gigs and your RA dates, and keeps it up to date. It only ever writes to that one calendar — it cannot read your other calendars, and it never changes them.
  • How do I build a track record here?
Confirmed gigs become performance entries on your profile. Promoters and DJs you have played with can leave public vouches ("would rebook", "smooth payout"). Over time that is a verifiable history rather than a claim in your bio.
  • What is "My network"?
A graph of your real performance contacts — who has shared a line-up with you, and with your contacts, across two hops. Link your Resident Advisor profile and it builds itself from your gig history.
  • Can I use my profile as my one link?
That is the point of it. Bio, mixes, releases and every social and streaming link on one page, plus a share popup with a branded QR code for flyers, story and square cards to download, and a caption ready to copy. It replaces the link-in-bio list.
  • Does being listed cost anything?
Listing is free during the beta. Pricing for later phases will be communicated in advance.

05 / For promoters

Venues

  • How do venues work?
A venue is its own profile, not a text field. When a promoter creates an event they pick the club, and the venue page then lists every public night happening there, no matter who runs it. Your address, directions and rooms live in one place instead of being retyped into every event.
  • What is the difference between the two venue switches?
One says you are a physical, bookable place — that turns on your address, your rooms and the venue details on your public page. The other says external promoters may host their nights at your address, which is what puts you in other promoters' venue search. Venues have the second one on by default; clubs and bars start closed and only appear once you switch it on.
  • How do I set up my rooms?
Add them once on your profile — Main, Garden, Basement — each with its own capacity. New club, venue and bar accounts start with a "Mainfloor" you can rename or build on. Linked events pick your rooms up as floors automatically, and duplicated events and recurring series keep them.
  • Do I control what shows on my venue page?
Yes. You can hide an individual event from your page, and you can block a promoter entirely — a blocked promoter cannot link your venue to a new event at all, not just on the display side.
  • There is a listing for my venue that I did not create. What now?
Promoters can add a venue that is not on the platform yet so they can link their event to it. Those listings are marked as unverified and stay out of search engines and the city hubs until someone claims them. If it is your place, use the claim button on the page — our team reviews every claim before handing the account over.
  • Do I get a public page?
Yes. Every organisation has a public profile with its logo, upcoming events and a roster of every DJ who has played for you, including the "would play here again" endorsements. The link is yours to share.

Trust, data & the platform

  • What does djstrich deliberately not do?
No payment processing, no invoicing, no contracts with e-signature, no ticketing, and no public star ratings or reliability scores for DJs. These are not missing features waiting for a sprint: money and paperwork stay between promoter and DJ, and publicly scoring named people is the wrong instrument for a scene this size.
  • Why is every DJ profile reviewed by hand?
Because an open directory of thousands of stale profiles is worse than a small one that works. Manual review keeps out empty accounts and keeps a search result worth acting on. It costs new DJs a few days, and we think that trade is right.
  • What is the Scene page?
At /scene and the city pages, confirmed gigs build a public network: who has played with whom, performance histories and vouches. It makes the real context visible without exposing private booking details.
  • What is Pulse?
A public feed of what just happened in the scene: new residencies, confirmed bookings, open calls going live, city milestones, awards and public vouches. Only things that are already public end up there.
  • Can the administration read my messages?
Yes. All booking threads on the platform can be viewed by the administration. This serves quality assurance, dispute resolution and checking for violations of the terms of service. Every admin access is logged (audit log). We state this explicitly because we believe it should be communicated transparently — not buried in footnote 47 of the terms.
  • How is my data stored?
All data sits with Supabase on EU servers. Analytics (PostHog) only run once you consent. Details are in the privacy policy.
  • Can I delete my account?
Yes. For account deletion requests, please write to [email protected]. We carry out a soft-delete in accordance with GDPR Art. 17. Some data may be retained in anonymised form for legal reasons, for example booking history.
  • How do I see what changed?
Every release is written up in plain language at /changelog, linked from the version number in the footer.
  • How can I give feedback or report a bug?
By email to [email protected]. We are in the beta and prefer direct feedback to polite silence.
